Question 1

What is Helenius?

Accepted Answer

Helenius is a complete virtual classroom for independent educators and academies. It includes student management by private invitation, courses with modules and lessons, assignments with online submission, assessments with custom scales, individual and group PDF progress reports, live class scheduling with recurrence and reminders, a Pomodoro timer for students, downloadable certificates, a private classroom forum, a public educator community and the AI Resources: the Lesson Plan Generator, the Rubric Generator, the Quiz Generator and Iris, the conversational assistant. Separately, Helenius Lab offers eight artificial intelligence tools for working on texts, ideas and decisions.

Question 2

Do I need technical knowledge to use Helenius?

Accepted Answer

No. If you can use email and browse the web, you can use Helenius. There is nothing to install and no prior technical experience is needed. The panel is designed for educators, not programmers.

Question 3

What languages is it available in?

Accepted Answer

The interface is available in Spanish, English, French, Portuguese and German. The AI generators produce results in whichever language you specify in your description, regardless of the interface language.

Question 4

Does it work on my phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Helenius adapts to phones and tablets and runs in the browser. You can also download the Android app from Google Play. The iPhone app is coming very soon.

Question 5

Is my data secure?

Accepted Answer

Passwords are stored with bcrypt cryptographic hashing, which is irreversible; connections use HTTPS with TLS encryption and database access is restricted. Payments are processed by Stripe, and Helenius never sees or stores your card details. Helenius does not sell personal data to third parties. You can delete your account at any time from Settings.

Question 6

How do I sign up?

Accepted Answer

From the Get started button on the home page, with your name, email and a password, or with the Continue with Google button. If you sign up with email and password, we will send you a link to confirm your address, valid for 48 hours. If it does not arrive, you can have it resent from the same screen. With Google, your email is confirmed immediately.

Question 7

What are the password requirements?

Accepted Answer

It must be at least 8 characters long and include an uppercase letter and a number or symbol.

Question 8

Can I stay signed in on several devices?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can be signed in on your computer, phone and tablet at the same time without the other sessions closing. For security, each session ends automatically after 4 hours of inactivity and, in any case, after 30 days; just sign in again.

Question 9

How do I change my password?

Accepted Answer

From Settings, in the security area. Enter your current password and then the new one. When you change it, the sessions open on your other devices are closed.

Question 10

I forgot my password. What do I do?

Accepted Answer

On the sign-in screen, choose Forgot your password? and enter your email. You will receive a single-use link to create a new password, valid for 1 hour. Once you save it, all open sessions are closed.

Question 11

I signed up with Google. Can I also have a password?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Use Forgot your password? with the same email as your Google account and create one. You will need it for actions that ask you to confirm your password, such as changing your email or deleting your account.

Question 12

How do I change my email address?

Accepted Answer

From Settings, by entering the new email and your current password. We will send a confirmation link to the new address, valid for 48 hours. Until you click it, your account keeps working with the old email, so you will not be locked out if you mistype the new one.

Question 13

How does a student join the platform?

Accepted Answer

Students can only join through a private invitation you send from your panel. When you add a student, they receive an email with a unique link that expires in 7 days. The student clicks it, accepts the terms of use and the privacy policy, creates a password and becomes active in your classroom. There is no public sign-up for students.

Question 14

What if the student is a minor?

Accepted Answer

Helenius is for people aged 13 and over, so do not invite students younger than that. When accepting the invitation, the student confirms that they are 13 or older and, if they are a minor, that a responsible adult has authorized their participation. In addition, as the educator, you are responsible for obtaining the consent of their legal guardians where the law of your country requires it. The details are in section 7 of the terms of use.

Question 15

What if the student does not receive the invitation or the link expires?

Accepted Answer

In the Students section you can see each student's status: Pending (invitation sent, account not yet created) or Active (account created). If a student is still Pending, you can resend the invitation with one click, which generates a new link valid for 7 days.

Question 16

Can I assign students to specific courses?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can assign them from the Students section or from each course's detail page, selecting several students at once with checkboxes. The same student can be enrolled in several courses.

Question 17

How do I create a course with content?

Accepted Answer

In the Courses section, create the course with a name, description and emoji. Then add modules and, within each module, lessons with a content type, description, resource link and estimated duration.

Question 18

How do I record grades?

Accepted Answer

From each student's profile. You can assign your own assessment scale to each grade: quantitative (0 to 10, 1 to 7, with decimals) or qualitative (Excellent, Good, Sufficient, etc.). Add the assessment name, the grade, comments and the scale. The student receives an automatic email with each new grade.

Question 19

What are assessment scales and the master scale?

Accepted Answer

Scales are the grading systems you define. You can create quantitative scales (with a minimum, maximum and decimals) or qualitative ones (with levels from best to worst). The master scale is the one you choose as your main reference: all student averages are automatically converted to it in reports.

Question 20

What types of reports can I generate?

Accepted Answer

Three types, in PDF: an individual report per student (all their grades, master scale average and overall status), a report per assessment (all students on a specific task, ranked by grade) and a group comparison (a cross table of students and assessments, color-coded green, yellow, orange and red by performance).

Question 21

Can I schedule live classes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In the Schedule section you add the title, the platform (Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Discord, BigBlueButton, Jitsi Meet, WhatsApp Video, FaceTime or other), the meeting link, an optional meeting code, the date, time and duration. You can make the class recurring: daily, weekly, every two weeks or monthly. Students join with one click from their panel.

Question 22

Are class reminders sent?

Accepted Answer

Yes. About one hour before each class, recurring ones included, Helenius emails a reminder to you and to the course's active students, each in their own language.

Question 23

How does a student submit an assignment?

Accepted Answer

The student sees the assignment in their panel with the status Pending, Submitted, Needs corrections or Graded. By clicking Submit, they can send their work in three ways: writing a text response, pasting a link to a file (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) or using the Submit by email to the teacher button, which opens their email program. If you set a due date, submission closes automatically when it passes, although you can reopen it manually.

Question 24

How do I review submissions?

Accepted Answer

In the Assignments section, each assignment shows a submission counter (for example, 3/5 submitted, 2 to review). View submissions opens the list of students and their status. When you choose a student you see their full submission and can Grade it, with the scale you chose for that assignment, or Return it for corrections with a comment. When returned, the student receives an email and can resubmit before the due date. Once a day you also receive an email summarising the submissions still waiting for review.

Question 25

Does Helenius issue certificates?

Accepted Answer

Yes. From the panel you can generate a PDF certificate for any student, with their name, the course, the date and your name as educator, ready to print or share.

Question 26

What does the student see in their panel?

Accepted Answer

Their courses with modules and lessons, their assignments and submissions, their grades with the master scale average, the calendar with scheduled classes, the Pomodoro timer, the private classroom forum to communicate with you and their certificate, when available.

Question 27

What is the Pomodoro timer?

Accepted Answer

It is a time management tool built into the student panel. It divides study into blocks of focused work separated by short breaks. It has four modes: Classic (25 minutes of work and 5 of break, with a long break every 4 cycles), Long (50 minutes and 10), Ultra short (15 minutes and 3) and Custom (with times set by the student).

Question 28

Can students see their grades and progress?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In their panel they see all their grades with the scale used, the date, your comments and their overall average expressed in the master scale you defined.

Question 29

What are the AI Resources?

Accepted Answer

They are the artificial intelligence tools built into the educator's panel: three generators (the Lesson Plan Generator, the Rubric Generator and the Quiz Generator) and a conversational assistant, Iris. They process the instructions you write through Anthropic language models and respond in the language you specify.

Question 30

What is the Lesson Plan Generator?

Accepted Answer

You give it the subject, educational level, age range, session length and topic, and it generates a complete, structured lesson plan. It includes learning objectives based on Bloom's taxonomy, a warm-up activity, timed development, a closing, questions for debate and critical thinking, adaptations for different learning styles, homework and teacher notes. You can copy, save or print it from the panel.

Question 31

What is the Rubric Generator?

Accepted Answer

From a brief description of the activity you want to assess, it generates a rubric with up to twelve criteria, each with four performance levels and clear, differentiated descriptors, presented in tables. It works for oral presentations, essays, projects, practical work, debates and any other assessable activity.

Question 32

What is the Quiz Generator?

Accepted Answer

From the topic, educational level, number and type of questions you specify, it generates quizzes with numbered questions and lettered answer options, with or without an answer key, ready to use. It is useful for formative assessment, review or reading checks.

Question 33

What is Iris?

Accepted Answer

Iris is the Helenius conversational educational assistant. Unlike the generators, she replies in conversation: she helps you design activities, explain difficult concepts in simple words, think through teaching strategies, handle classroom situations and stay motivated. Iris does not analyze your students' personal data. Visitors who are not signed in can send her up to 5 free messages a day.

Question 34

Are my results and my conversations with Iris saved?

Accepted Answer

Generator results are saved to your account only if you save them, in the Saved area of each tool. Conversations with Iris are saved to your account, up to 50; you can delete them one by one or all at once, and they are deleted when you delete your account.

Question 35

How many AI credits do I get per month?

Accepted Answer

Free plan: 5 credits. Pro Educator plan: 35 credits. Academy plan: 100 credits. Credits renew automatically at the start of each month, based on your account's local date. Unused credits do not carry over to the next month.

Question 36

How many credits does each tool use?

Accepted Answer

The Lesson Plan Generator and the Rubric Generator use 1 credit per generation, plus 1 credit for each section you choose to expand or deepen. The Quiz Generator uses credits by the complexity you choose: simple, 1 credit; intermediate, 2; complex, 3; adding questions to or deepening an existing quiz costs 1 credit. Iris uses 0.5 credits per reply. If a generation fails, the credit is returned.

Question 37

What happens when I run out of credits?

Accepted Answer

The generators and Iris are disabled until renewal, at the start of your next month. The rest of the panel (students, courses, assignments, assessments, schedule, reports, forum and community) keeps working as usual. Credits have no monetary value and are not refundable.

Question 38

Can I request output in a specific language?

Accepted Answer

Yes. State the language in your description or question and the tool will reply in it. This works with every language the language models support, not only the five of the interface.

Question 39

What if a tool takes too long or shows an error?

Accepted Answer

You can switch tabs while it generates: if your browser allows it, you will get a notification when the result is ready. If the overloaded service message appears, wait a few minutes and try again. If the problem continues, write to academy@heleniusaulavirtual.com saying which tool you were using and the error message.

Question 40

Is AI-generated content reliable?

Accepted Answer

The tools produce good-quality results for teaching use, but they may contain inaccuracies, errors or omissions. Always review them with your professional judgment before using them with your students. Helenius does not guarantee the accuracy or curricular suitability of generated content.

Question 41

What commitment do I make when using the artificial intelligence tools?

Accepted Answer

By creating your account you commit to using them with honesty and integrity: acknowledging the involvement of artificial intelligence where your institution or the context requires it, not presenting as your own what is not, and checking every reference or figure at its source before treating it as established. The full commitment is set out in section 9 of the terms of use.

Question 42

What is Helenius Lab Marketplace?

Accepted Answer

It is a set of eight artificial intelligence tools: Idea Cartographer, Anatomy of a Text, The Touchstone, The Gap, Genealogy of an Idea, The Portrait, The Structure and The Balance. Unlike the Virtual Classroom AI Resources, which generate teaching material from scratch, these work on what you already have, whether a text, an argument, a bibliography or a decision, and they are useful in any field, not only for those who teach.

Question 43

Do I need the Virtual Classroom to use Helenius Lab?

Accepted Answer

No. You can use Helenius Lab on its own, with the same Helenius account, without subscribing to the Virtual Classroom. If you already have a paid Virtual Classroom plan, Lab costs less as an add-on.

Question 44

How much can I use Helenius Lab?

Accepted Answer

Without a subscription, you get 2 free AI credits a month to share across the eight tools, no card required. With the Lab subscription you get 35 AI credits a month, shared across the eight tools however you like. Uses renew at the start of each month, based on your account's local date, and unused ones do not carry over.

Question 45

How much does Helenius Lab cost?

Accepted Answer

On its own, 14 US dollars a month or 140 US dollars a year. As an add-on to a paid Virtual Classroom plan, 7 US dollars a month or 70 US dollars a year. Both options give equal access to all eight tools. The Lab subscription is billed and canceled independently of the Virtual Classroom one.

Question 46

Where are my Lab results kept?

Accepted Answer

Every result is saved to your account. In Lab Marketplace you can see how many you have in each tool and the most recent ones from all of them, so you can reopen them whenever you like.

Question 47

Can I take part in the community if I only use Helenius Lab?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The public community is open to anyone with an active account, whether they use the Virtual Classroom, Helenius Lab or both. The only exception is student accounts, which have the private forum of their class. You will find the way in from Lab Marketplace once you sign in.

Question 48

How much do the Virtual Classroom plans cost?

Accepted Answer

Free plan: 0 US dollars, forever. Pro Educator plan: 19 US dollars a month or 190 US dollars a year. Academy plan: 39 US dollars a month or 390 US dollars a year. Paying annually is equivalent to two months free.

Question 49

What does the free plan include?

Accepted Answer

Every Virtual Classroom feature: courses with modules and lessons, assignments with online submission, assessment scales and a master scale, individual and group PDF reports, live class scheduling with recurrence, downloadable certificates, the Pomodoro timer for students, the private classroom forum, the public community, the three AI generators and Iris. Its limits are 5 students, 1 active course and 5 AI credits a month. It has no expiry date and requires no card.

Question 50

What does the Pro Educator plan include?

Accepted Answer

The same features as the free plan, with higher limits: up to 50 students, unlimited courses and 35 AI credits a month.

Question 51

What does the Academy plan include?

Accepted Answer

The same features as the other plans, with up to 200 students, unlimited courses and 100 AI credits a month.

Question 52

What currency is charged and how do I pay?

Accepted Answer

Prices are in US dollars (USD). At the Stripe checkout you can pay by card, with digital wallets, with the local payment methods available in your country or with Link, the payment service of Stripe. In countries where Stripe supports it, the checkout shows and charges the amount converted to your local currency, so you see what you pay before confirming. After each charge you receive an invoice by email, sent by Link. Helenius does not store card details or banking information.

Question 53

How do I change my card or see my invoices?

Accepted Answer

From Settings, with the option to manage billing. It opens Stripe's secure portal, where you can update your card, see your invoice history and manage your subscriptions, including Helenius Lab if you have it. If your purchase was made through Link, you can also manage it at link.com.

Question 54

Can I cancel my paid plan at any time?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with no lock-in or contracts. When you cancel from Settings, you keep your plan until the end of the period already paid, and then your account moves to the free plan with all your data. If you change your mind before that date, you can resume the subscription. There are no prorated refunds for unused time, unless the law of your country requires them.

Question 55

Can I charge my students through Helenius?

Accepted Answer

Not for now. Helenius does not process payments between educators and students. You can use external tools such as PayPal, Stripe or Mercado Pago to handle those payments.

Question 56

Do you offer refunds?

Accepted Answer

When you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period already paid, and as a general rule unused time is not refunded on a prorated basis. We do refund duplicate or incorrect charges in full, and we look at unwanted renewals case by case as long as you write to us within 14 days. If the law of your country gives you a right of withdrawal, we honour it. Write to academy@heleniusaulavirtual.com and we reply within 5 business days. The details are in section 11 of the terms of use.

Question 57

Can I use a discount code?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you have a Helenius promotional code, enter it at the Stripe checkout, in the discount code field, before confirming. You will see the reduced price before paying. Each code states how much it discounts and for how long; when that period ends, the subscription continues at its usual price.

Question 58

I already pay for Helenius Lab. What happens if I subscribe to the Virtual Classroom?

Accepted Answer

Your Lab subscription moves to the add-on price on its own, 7 dollars a month instead of 14, as soon as your Classroom plan is active. You do not have to cancel anything or buy again. Stripe adjusts the charge proportionally, so you do not pay twice for the same days, and we email you to confirm it. If you later leave the Classroom, your Lab subscription returns to the standalone price and we also let you know before the next charge.

Question 59

Who processes my payments?

Accepted Answer

Stripe, through its Link service, which acts as merchant of record for the purchase: it charges the amount, handles applicable taxes and issues receipts and invoices. On your bank statement, the charge appears as LINK.COM* followed by the business name. Helenius never sees or stores your card number: payment details are entered on Stripe's page and stay in their custody, under their own policies. From your account, Helenius stores only the plan you subscribed to and the customer and subscription identifiers Stripe returns, which are what allow us to activate your plan and handle cancellations. You can consult your invoices from Manage billing in your account settings.

Question 60

What is the Helenius public community?

Accepted Answer

It is a space on the website where registered users can share questions, resources, reflections and experiences. It is organized into categories such as pedagogy, technology, assessment and teacher well-being.

Question 61

What is the private classroom forum?

Accepted Answer

It is an exclusive space within each educator's panel, visible only to that educator and their students. It is used to answer questions, share announcements and keep the group's communication organized and private.

Question 62

Is the community moderated?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Helenius team moderates the content. By posting, you agree to follow the platform's community guidelines, and the team may remove posts that break them.

Question 63

How do I contact the Helenius team?

Accepted Answer

Write to academy@heleniusaulavirtual.com for the Virtual Classroom or to academy@heleniuslab.com for Helenius Lab. You can also use the contact form on this site or send us a query from your panel. We will reply as soon as possible.

Question 64

Accepted Answer

Our main support language is Spanish, and we also answer in English, French, Portuguese and German.
